Currently social networks is play a big role in online
marketing. Social networks influence the success of larger companies to
smaller companies wanting to market their products more. Two changes will
further push the influence of social networks on search results.
Integration of links to social networks in Google's knowledge
graph
The first change
is the introduction of social network links for companies in
the "knowledge graph" . This was first noticed in the
United States at the beginning of the year, as described and visualized on
searchengineland.com, the integration of social networks does not stop at
Google+, but also includes among others Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn,
which are now available in the “knowledge” bar.
This allows
customers to easily enter the social media networks of a company they are
looking for, for businesses it is an effective way to showcase their products
and attract new customers.
In the United
States this change has done the trick, it remains to be seen if this
integration will be rolled out in other countries.
Tweets in Google search results
The second change is the new cooperation between
Google and Twitter. Some sources say Google has already posted tweets in
search results since 2009, a short trial phase.
A new agreement
allows Twitter to directly benefit converting many new users from Google and
thereby increase ad revenue. A win-win model for Google, which takes
advantage of the strategy of being the provider of the most recent and frequent
news by offering and securing even more current information day to day.
As of this week tests
have shown that tweets are displayed in search results and that the
results are directly linked to the "hashtag" in
Twitter - Google shows the most popular tweets for each term with the
corresponding hashtag.
These two new
features are already visible in Google search results. It remains to be
seen whether the poster with the tweets remains lucrative, or if it will revert
to the previous poster.
